At Theta | Opening Hours & Menu

At Theta in Bindlach is a quiet beer garden with a restaurant just a few minutes from Bayreuth. The place combines Franconian cuisine, a historic courtyard from 1827, and the atmosphere of a family-run excursion destination. Since 1997, the beer garden has been operated as a family business; outside, fruit trees, roses, and the listed walls shape the image, while inside a cozy dining room with a vaulted ceiling awaits. Those looking for a place where enjoyment, history, and nature come together will find here an address with a clear identity and much character. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/))

Opening Hours, Directions, and Map

For planning a visit, At Theta is pleasantly uncomplicated, as the most important basic data is clearly stated on the official website. The address is Hochtheta 6 in 95463 Bindlach, and the establishment is only about 3 km from the festival and university city of Bayreuth. This makes the location suitable not only for a targeted restaurant visit but also for a detour out of the city into the green. The opening hours are particularly important: Thursday and Friday from 1 PM to 9 PM, Saturday from 11 AM to 9 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 8 PM. Those who want to take advantage of the lunch or afternoon time will find several options, but should arrive early on busy days to secure a spot comfortably. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/))

It is also practical that the kitchen remains open continuously and serves hot meals until one hour before closing. This makes spontaneous visits significantly easier, as one does not have to pay attention to tight kitchen hours. At the same time, one should take the operators' notes seriously: It is closed on May 1st, and only cash payments are possible on site. Therefore, those arriving with family, friends, or after an outing should plan for cash and check the opening hours in advance. This combination of rural location, clear structure, and genuine hospitality makes At Theta attractive for many guests. It is not a hectic downtown operation but a place for conscious dining, where the journey becomes a small break. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/))

Menu and Franconian Cuisine

The culinary profile of At Theta is distinctly regional. The website speaks of Franconian cuisine, good beers, and homemade snacks, complemented by regional products that are freshly processed. This fits a place that wants to appear grounded while still working very carefully. Those looking for a typical Franconian tavern will not find a random selection here but an offering with a regional signature. The charm lies exactly in this: the dishes should not appear staged but authentic, classic, and at the same time aligned with today's eating habits. Therefore, it is also interesting that the operators explicitly point out that fish, meat, vegetarian, and vegan wishes are possible. This broadens the menu without losing the character of a Franconian tavern. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/))

Particularly charming are the details that bring the menu to life. In addition to the homemade snacks, there are daily changing hot recommendations, so a visit does not taste the same every time. In summer, on beautiful Fridays from 5 PM, tarte flambée is additionally offered, along with grilled fish from the Black Kitchen. This open fire gives the stay a special, almost primal atmosphere that is rarely found today. Additionally, drinks made from their own fruit, such as homemade lemonades and juices, round off the regional approach. Those looking for a menu that is uncomplicated, honest, and at the same time versatile will find it here. Especially in combination with the historic ambiance, a culinary place is created that does not need to be loud to be memorable. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/index.php/biergarten/))

Beer Garden, Photos, and Atmosphere

The beer garden of At Theta is more than just an outdoor area; it is the actual emotional center of the location. According to the official description, the listed walls surround the beer garden on three sides, complemented by roses and walnut trees that give the place an almost poetic tranquility. The area is described as a sunny terrace above Bayreuth, which aptly captures the elevated location and the expansive character of the place. Those who take a seat here do not experience the anonymous standard of many inns but a courtyard situation with much history and a clearly recognizable identity. The mix of nature, old walls, and Franconian beer garden culture ensures that even a short stop after an outing feels like a small break from everyday life. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/index.php/biergarten/))

The images on the website also underscore this impression. Among other things, views of the beer garden, the background of the property, the dining room, the buffet, and seasonal themes such as the goose dinner are shown. This is important for all those looking for photos before a visit and wanting to get an impression of the atmosphere and style. The visual language of the location is very consistent: rural, warm, grounded, and well-kept. This makes At Theta interesting for people who expect not just seating but an experience from a beer garden. The combination of fruit garden, open spaces, historic walls, and craft-oriented cuisine has become rare and is therefore particularly memorable. Those who settle here are not looking for a quick trend but an atmosphere that slows down and remains genuine. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/index.php/biergarten/))

Playground, Hiking, and Family Outings

A strong argument for families is the natural playground in the beer garden. The operators explicitly point out that children are also considered and can let off steam on the premises. With sand piles and a constantly newly built camp, a play area is created that does not seem like an afterthought but a natural part of the concept. This is particularly attractive for parents, as dining outdoors becomes more relaxed when children do not have to sit still. The entire facility is designed so that movement, discovery, and breaks go well together. This fits excellently with a place that is consciously positioned as rural and quiet. Instead of an overloaded event backdrop, one gets space, air, and a clear connection to the surroundings. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/index.php/biergarten/))

Also, for a family outing or a small round before dining, the location is very suitable. The establishment is located at Theta above Bindlach and thus in an environment that looks more like a walk, break, and cozy dining than through traffic. Therefore, those who are outdoors, for example, on an outing to Bayreuth or the surrounding area, can plan At Theta well as a destination or stopover. The interplay of quiet location, beer garden, play area, and simple gastronomy makes the place interesting for several target groups: families, couples, friend groups, and day-trippers. For the keyword hiking, the location is logical because it offers exactly the relaxed dining experience one seeks after a walk or a tour in the green. Without loud staging, but with genuine hospitality, it fulfills exactly this purpose. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/index.php/biergarten/))

Restaurant, Seating, and Celebrations

If the weather does not cooperate, the experience simply shifts indoors. The restaurant is located in a former cow barn with a Bohemian vaulted ceiling and now has 50 seats. This number is important for planning because it makes the interior feel manageable and personal. At the same time, the central oven in the middle of the room provides warmth and a very cozy atmosphere. This is a great advantage, as not every beer garden offers a truly independent indoor area that can keep up atmospherically with the outdoor area. Here, that is exactly the case: the dining room is not just a fallback solution but a strong part of the overall experience. Therefore, those looking for a restaurant at Theta get more than just a simple dining option. They receive a space with history, structure, and character. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/index.php/wirtschaft/))

The establishment is also well-equipped for celebrations. According to the official website, private and business events can be reserved in the dining room, as well as family celebrations and Christmas parties. Additionally, there is a willingness to accommodate individual requests for decoration and food, making the place particularly interesting for small to medium occasions. Another seasonal highlight is the regular Theta goose dinner on weekends in November and December. Such offerings show that At Theta does not only function as a beer garden in summer but also creates its own events throughout the year. The combination of traditional ambiance, personal care, and seasonal specialties makes the establishment attractive for people who want to design a celebration that is not sterile but warm and regionally influenced. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/index.php/wirtschaft/))

Reviews, Cash Payment, and Practical Tips

The public perception of At Theta is primarily supported by three things: the historic surroundings, the down-to-earth cuisine, and the relaxed overall feeling. These strengths can be well derived from the official information and also explain why the location is so relevant for search queries around reviews. Those searching online for impressions usually want to know if a place really delivers what it promises. At Theta, the visible facts speak a clear language: historic courtyard, family-run business, regional dishes, beer garden with a natural character, and a dining room with a vaulted ceiling. This combination appears authentic and is more important to many visitors than a glossy concept. Additionally, the operators communicate very clearly what to expect on site. This builds trust and helps with planning. ([at-theta.de](https://www.auf-der-theta.de/))

Practically speaking, it is worth preparing the visit a little. Those heading to Theta should have cash on hand, check the opening hours in advance, and arrive a bit earlier in good weather. Due to the location on the historic estate and the attractive beer garden structure, the place is particularly strong when one has time and is not just looking to eat quickly. For families, the natural playground is a plus, for groups the reservability of the dining room, and for connoisseurs the clear focus on Franconian cuisine. That the establishment is only a few kilometers from Bayreuth makes it a good addition to a city or outing day. Therefore, those looking for an address that combines restaurant, beer garden, playground, regional cuisine, and historic atmosphere in a single destination will find At Theta a very harmonious choice. I recently visited Auf der Theta, a lovely biergarten just outside Bayreuth, and absolutely loved it! The historic farmhouse setting—from the graceful apple trees and roses to the rustic courtyard surrounded by sandstone buildings—creates an instantly relaxing atmosphere. The food was delightful. I tried my all-time favorite and the regional special Schäufele—you can really taste the care in the preparation—and the cheesecake was divine: creamy, perfectly sweet, and the ideal dessert to end a meal. All in all a really good place to visit on a good summer weekend.

We were searching for an authentic lunch spot and stumbled upon a hidden treasure: Auf der Theta. Nestled away on a farm, this restaurant offered a unique and delightful experience. The old building with its natural surroundings immediately impressed us. Stepping inside, we were greeted by a warm atmosphere and friendly faces. Our thirst was quenched with generous drinks, and the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious. Auf der Theta delivered exactly what we craved: fair prices, fantastic flavors, and a genuine local experience. We highly recommend it and give it a stellar 5-star rating!

A nice beer garden sitting atop a hill. It's a perfect spot to cool down, have a drink and eat traditional German food after a hike. The area surrounding Auf der Theta is awash with beautiful landscapes. The service is attentive but waiting times can be long because it is a popular restaurant and beer garden. All in all, I had an awesome experience there. However, I think the sitting places and beer variety can do with some improvement. Well done.

Update one year on - they have a new strawberry fizz drink which is wonderful, and the cheesecake is delicious. Cannot recommend this place more. ---- Yes I am the nutjob who hiked to a Biergarten in Bavaria and ordered the vegan salad. But it was delicious and I would do it again. Can only recommend.
