Rondell - University of Bayreuth | Events & Tickets

The Rondell of the University of Bayreuth is not only the geometric center of the campus but also a place where everyday life, art, and event experiences come together. Official university pages describe it as the heart of the campus and a well-known meeting point for students and staff. This is where the short paths of the Bayreuth campus converge, along with the close networking and the special atmosphere that many visitors immediately associate with the university. Therefore, those searching for events at the Rondell find a space that is much more than just a square: it serves as a stage for student initiatives, a venue for summer formats, and a place with a clear visual identity. Depending on the season, the Rondell can be a quiet campus center, a lively action area, or even a beach in the middle of the university. This versatility makes it exciting for inquiries about events and tickets, as the specific occasion determines the mood, access, and program. Events at the Rondell of the University of Bayreuth

The Rondell is particularly interesting because it functions not only as a meeting point on campus but also repeatedly as an event venue. The official campus tour explains that various university groups and initiatives set up their stands around the Rondell once per semester. At the same time, the round area is regularly used by student projects and large campus formats that generate attention far beyond the immediate university context. This is especially visible during the Campus Summer Day, which, according to the university's website, takes place every other year on campus, while in the alternate year it is replaced by the university beach, i.e., the Summer Feeling. This interplay of campus festival, sports format, and summer location sustainably shapes the identity of the place. ([campustour.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.campustour.uni-bayreuth.de/en/self-guided-tour-of-the-campus-in-Bayreuth/7Rondell/index.html))

The Summer Feeling at the university beach makes this role particularly clear. According to the official website, the largest student-organized event in Bayreuth will return to the campus Rondell from June 13 to 26, 2026. For this, hundreds of tons of sand will be piled up, transforming the heart of the university into a beach landscape. The program ranges from sports to culture to summer lifestyle. Among other things, public viewings, university championships in beach volleyball, beach soccer, and roundnet, as well as various side events, are mentioned. The university also reports that around 35,000 visitors attended the event in 2024, and a team of 50 students from sports economics and media and cultural studies is working on the implementation. This shows that the Rondell is not only a place for small campus actions but also for large events with significant impact in the city and region. ([summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de/de/))

The atmosphere on site is also relevant for searching for events. The Rondell is described on the campus tour as the central hub of the campus, a recognizable motif in images, and a popular meeting point for students and staff. Especially during events, the Rondell acts like a natural junction: visitors arrive here, orient themselves, stop, and move between program zones, deck chairs, stands, or sports areas. For SEO, this connection is important because search intentions for events at the Rondell almost always also include questions about location, access, program, and admission. Thus, the Rondell is not merely a backdrop but the place where a campus event can truly unfold. Tickets and Free Admission at the Campus Rondell

Those looking for tickets for the Rondell often expect it to be a classic event arena with fixed seats and a regular advance sale. However, the official information presents a different picture: the Rondell is an open campus area, and many of the events taking place there are freely accessible. This is particularly clearly stated on the event page of the Summer Feeling at the university beach. It states that the area and the extensive supporting program are freely accessible and do not require tickets. This is an important point for seekers, as the term tickets at the Rondell should not be understood in the sense of a hall or concert box office, but always event-related. ([summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de/de/Veranstaltungshinweise/index.html))

At the same time, free accessibility should not be confused with complete lawlessness. The event information explicitly states that individual program points such as sports tournaments, pub quizzes, or beer pong tournaments may require prior registration. This means: access to the area is free, but individual offerings within the program may be organizationally limited. Also relevant is that only cash payments are possible on the event site, and the team refers to having enough small change. These details are important for practical planning as they clearly distinguish between free admission and event-related participation. Therefore, those looking for tickets should think more about free accessibility, occasional registration, and an open campus format at the Rondell rather than a classic ticket structure. ([summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de/de/Veranstaltungshinweise/index.html))

For users of search engines, this differentiation is particularly helpful. The Rondell is not a dedicated event hall with a fixed seating plan but a central place where different formats take place. Therefore, the terms admission, registration, and pre-registration are more relevant for many events at the Rondell than the word tickets in the classic sense. The official information also makes it clear that the Summer Feeling should not be understood as a drinking event, but as a broad campus and cultural event with sports, encounters, and summer atmosphere. This is also important for click and conversion logic, as visitors immediately know what kind of event they can expect at the Rondell. ([summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de/de/Veranstaltungshinweise/index.html))

Directions, Parking, and Bicycle Racks at the Rondell

The location of the Rondell is one of the biggest practical advantages of the place. The university campus is located on the southern outskirts of Bayreuth, about 900 meters from the Bayreuth-South exit of the A9. The university's official recommendation for getting there is to follow the signs towards the university. For arriving by car, it is noted that one should turn right towards parking lot P1 immediately after the main access, which is used among other things for Audimax, cafeteria, and B9. This makes it clear that the Rondell, despite its open campus location, is well integrated into the university's traffic infrastructure. ([ub.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.ub.uni-bayreuth.de/de/infos_zur_ub/anfahrtsbeschreibung/index.html))

The Rondell is also easily accessible by public transport. The Summer Feeling directions recommend taking bus lines 304, 306, and 316 to the Uni-Verwaltung stop for traveling to the campus Rondell. Additionally, the official university pages point out that there are regular connections to the university from the main train station and the central bus station (ZOH), and the journey from the train station or ZOH to the campus takes about 15 to 20 minutes. This is particularly convenient for visitors, as they do not get caught up in complicated transfer situations but receive clear travel options. Therefore, those attending events at the Rondell can plan their arrival relatively easily by car, bus, or train. ([summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de/en/Directions/index.html))

Moreover, the place is bicycle-friendly. The Summer Feeling page explicitly points out that there are sufficient bicycle racks available around the campus Rondell. This is not only an ecological advantage but also organizationally relevant, as it allows visitors a simple, quick, and campus-close arrival. Especially at events with many guests, such as the Summer Feeling or student summer formats, the bicycle is often the least stressful solution. The campus itself is characterized by short paths, and this logic fits the Rondell: once arrived, one can reach the surrounding areas such as the cafeteria, library, or central campus paths without long walks. For SEO content regarding parking and directions, this is a strong signal, as it makes the place attractive for car, public transport, and bicycle users alike. ([summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.summerfeeling.uni-bayreuth.de/en/Directions/index.html))

Art, Sculptures, and the Special Campus Center

The Rondell is not only functional but also artistically shaped. The official art page of the university describes that around the Rondell in the middle of the campus, four out of a total of six figurative sculptures by Stephan Balkenhol stand. The figures are about 1.50 meters high, were cast in bronze in 2001, and painted in color. They stand on differently shaped, equally high columns and together with the square form a clear structure. This art on campus is not a casual detail but a defining part of the visual impression. Therefore, when visiting the Rondell, one experiences not only an event space but also a place that has been consciously shaped by art. ([kunst.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.kunst.uni-bayreuth.de/de/rondell/))

Particularly noteworthy is also the space curve by Norbert Kricke. It is described on the art page as the last work of the artist and has been shown since 2024 at a new, more central location at the edge of the university Rondell. The sculpture opens up to the space and, depending on the perspective, reveals a completely different form. The university describes this effect very vividly: when walking around, the artwork changes its impact, sometimes appearing three-dimensional, sometimes like a flat arc. The fact that this work was moved after the construction of the new Africa building shows how closely campus development and art are connected on the site. For visitors, the Rondell is therefore also a place of perception, not just movement. ([kunst.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.kunst.uni-bayreuth.de/de/rondell/))

Additionally, the Rondell with the exhibition Displaced Thinking commemorates five jurists who were expelled from Germany, had to flee, or went into hiding between 1933 and 1945. These memorial steles are another indication that the Rondell in Bayreuth is not limited to a single purpose. Here, art, culture of remembrance, and campus life intersect. In this combination lies a significant part of the uniqueness of the place: the Rondell is not a neutral forecourt but a consciously condensed center with symbolic power. For content about events, tickets, and visitor guidance, this is very valuable because it makes the place not arbitrary but gives it a clear recognition value. ([campustour.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.campustour.uni-bayreuth.de/en/self-guided-tour-of-the-campus-in-Bayreuth/7Rondell/index.html))

Campus Life, Summer Feeling, and Practical Tips

The Rondell works so well because it is perfectly embedded in the campus life of the University of Bayreuth. The university describes its campus as the heart of the institution and as a place where one quickly feels comfortable, benefits from short paths, and experiences close networking. It is also said that there is always something going on in campus life. Events during the academic year, cultural offerings, the cafeteria, university shop, campus app, student engagement, and numerous groups that shape the togetherness on the site are mentioned. For the Rondell, this is important because it should not be viewed in isolation. It is the place where campus life becomes visible and where spontaneous encounters work just as well as planned programs. ([uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.uni-bayreuth.de/campusleben))

Additionally, the special role of student activities is highlighted. The campus tour points out that students run their own media, including a university radio, a student newspaper, and even a campus TV. At the same time, the cultural spectrum ranges from concerts of university orchestras, big bands, and choirs to theater performances. This shows that the Rondell is relevant not only because of individual large events but also because of the cultural infrastructure from which such events arise. When stands, stages, or leisure formats appear at the Rondell, they are usually backed by student initiatives that bring the place to life. This is an important added value for SEO texts because seekers understand not just a location but an entire campus ecosystem. ([campustour.uni-bayreuth.de](https://www.campustour.uni-bayreuth.de/en/self-guided-tour-of-the-campus-in-Bayreuth/7Rondell/index.html))

For visiting on-site, it is also worthwhile to take a look at the event rules. The Summer Feeling explicitly mentions a barrier-free event area with a relaxation room and inclusive signage but points out that not all areas are fully barrier-free. Glass bottles are not allowed for safety reasons, and only cash is accepted on the site. Additionally, the team emphasizes an awareness concept to ensure that the event remains as safe as possible for everyone. Such information is practically important for the visit and helps plan the stay at the Rondell smoothly. Those seeking a mix of free admission, campus atmosphere, art, and summer programming will find at the Rondell of the University of Bayreuth a place that clearly differs from a normal event space. This unique combination of function, atmosphere, and identity-forming environment makes the Rondell one of the most interesting event spaces in Bayreuth. A wonderful university I wish I could study in. Beautiful campus to roam around and enjoy the architecture and nature together. Though I visited the university on the weekend, I believe the campus thrives on weekdays. Among many attractions in Bayreuth, this must be a must-visit place for tourists.

A nice spot on campus. Events mainly take place here in the summer.

A fairly decent place, unfortunately, shady characters often offer dubious substances in crystalline or stone form. The same characters also consume them there.

Very nice overall. People just shouldn't throw their cigarette butts in the environment, as it results in the ground being really disgusting here.

No offense, but the colorful seating options don't really enhance the appearance of the roundabout.
