Discover the fascinating history of wine cultivation, which once shaped the region around Kulmbach and Bayreuth. The Art Museum Bayreuth invites you on September 24, 2026, to an exciting lecture on the topic of wine cultivation in the former beer city. Prof. Dr. Herbert Popp will share his expertise at 19:30 and show how the region has developed from wine growing to a beer culture.
In this free event, the historical significance of wine cultivation will be highlighted, which is hardly known to many locals today. From vineyards and winemakers to old wine cellars – participants will be taken on a journey into the past and learn how the landscape and way of life of the regions Kulmbach and Bayreuth were once shaped by vines. Today, the region is primarily known for its beers, but the wine culture was once ubiquitous.
