With wood, tools, and your own hands to the lever nutcracker

In the FabLab Bayreuth, a special workpiece is created over two intensive course days: a self-built lever nutcracker. The VHS course combines practical craftsmanship, solid fundamentals of woodworking, and the focused atmosphere of an open high-tech workshop.

Understanding and safely working with wood

The focus is on selecting suitable woods and wood materials as well as the construction principles for stable wooden workpieces. Participants learn how to properly use glue, screws, and dowels, and what is important in the planning and implementation process.

From the first cut to the finished workpiece

Under expert guidance, the workshop leads step by step through the workflows. Tool maintenance, safe workshop use, and careful surface treatment are part of the program, as well as the precise joining and assembling of the individual components. At the end of the workshop, there will be a functional lever nutcracker that visibly showcases the participants' craftsmanship progress.

Small group, focused event atmosphere

With a maximum of eight places, the course offers a personal learning environment. The organization in the FabLab Bayreuth creates space for questions, practical exercises, and individual support. Prerequisites are craftsmanship skills and a minimum age of 16; prior experience in woodworking is not a focus.
