CANCELLED: Virtual Game Worlds at RW21 Bayreuth
The VR meeting planned for Friday, October 30, 2026, in the Game-o-thek of RW21 is cancelled. The event was intended to give young people and other interested parties aged twelve and above the opportunity to try out various virtual reality headsets and collectively explore new game worlds.
Gaming up close instead of just on the screen
The focus of the event concept was on immersive gaming experiences with different VR systems. Tests with the PlayStation VR, the Oculus Rift S on gaming PCs, and the wireless Oculus Quest were planned. This way, visitors would get to know different types of virtual gaming and experience the special event atmosphere of the Game-o-thek.
Cooperation with E-Sport UBT
The VR meeting was created in cooperation with the Bayreuth E-Sport club UBT e.V. The collaboration combines library youth work, modern media education, and joint gaming. In addition to trying out the technology, the format provided an opportunity to exchange ideas about games and receive tips from the gaming world.
Event location at RW21
The date was planned in the freestyle area in the basement of the RW21 city library at Richard-Wagner-Straße 21 in Bayreuth. The VR meeting was supposed to last from 4:00 PM to around 6:00 PM and was aimed at interested parties aged twelve and older. Admission was free.
Conclusion
Although this date has been cancelled, the format shows how lively media work, event planning, and digital gaming culture come together at RW21. The Game-o-thek remains an exciting place for gaming, VR experiences, and exchange in Bayreuth.
