3D Printing in Bayreuth: Turning Digital Ideas into Real Objects
How does a digital template transform into a tangible component? In the workshop Discover the World of 3D Printing!, children and teenagers aged 12 and up will learn the basics of the FDM process and experience modern manufacturing directly in the open high-tech workshop of FabLab Bayreuth.
Layer by Layer to Your Own Idea
The focus is on the layer melting process, one of the most important methods in 3D printing. Participants will learn how a 3D printer is built, which materials are used, and how a digital model becomes a real workpiece. The workshop combines technical knowledge with practical application and makes digital manufacturing vividly experiential.
From Slicing to Finished Print
The event guides through the entire process of a 3D printing project: from preparing a model to the so-called slicing to selecting suitable printing settings. Then the print begins and is monitored. Tips for successful printing results and error prevention round off the program.
Understanding Technology and Applying It Independently
The FabLab Bayreuth serves as an open high-tech workshop for easy access to modern production technologies. In a focused event atmosphere, participants have the space to experiment, ask questions, and learn. Windows basic knowledge is required; the maximum number of participants is eight.
More than a Workshop
The participation fee includes all necessary materials and a participation certificate. Additionally, participants receive a machine driver's license for the 3D printer, which permits private use of the machine during FabLab Bayreuth's OpenLab times. Therefore, the event experience does not end with the last print but opens the way to personal maker projects.
Conclusion: The workshop offers a hands-on introduction to 3D printing, digital model preparation, and modern manufacturing. Those who want to not only observe technology but also understand and apply it themselves will experience a compact afternoon in FabLab Bayreuth with visible results and plenty of room for creativity.
