"Disruption": The C³ Research Center Launches in Bayreuth
The University of Bayreuth will inaugurate its new Conflict, Crisis, and Change Research Center, C³ for short, on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The event in the Congress Hall of the Africa Research Center combines scientific discussion, international perspectives, and a subsequent reception.
When Crises Change Societies
The central theme of the launch event is the term "Disruption". From interrupted global supply chains to profound changes in political systems, the feeling of disruption shapes many current debates. The panel will examine how disruption influences conflict dynamics and societal developments.
Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Conflict and Change
The panel brings together expertise from criminal law, Eastern European history, and sociology. Prof. Dr. Nina Nestler from the University of Bayreuth, Prof. Dr. Cindy Wittke-Hohlfeld from the University of Regensburg, and Prof. Dr. Joschka Philipps from the University of Bayreuth will discuss how crises emerge, unfold, and change historical courses of action.
Guests will be welcomed by Prof. Dr. Stefan Leible, the President of the University of Bayreuth. The evening will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Jana Hönke, holder of the Chair of Sociology in Africa and Director of the C³ Research Center.
Science Meets Encounter
The event offers more than just an academic opening session. After the discussion, the University of Bayreuth invites attendees to a reception. This creates space for personal conversations, professional exchange, and new contacts in a focused event atmosphere on the university campus.
For the event planning, the university is relying on open access: All interested parties are welcome, no registration is required. Admission is free.
Conclusion: A New Place for Research on Conflicts and Change
The launch event makes visible what the C³ Research Center stands for: interdisciplinary research on conflict, crisis, and societal change. Those who wish to experience current developments from various scientific perspectives and accompany the launch of a new research center in Bayreuth will find an informative and stimulating evening here.
