Zeppelin Upper Right: A Documentary Film About Art Without Boxes
On Monday, December 7, 2026, the Friedrichsforum Bayreuth will show the documentary film Zeppelin Upper Right as part of the documentary film series Realities. The film by Olli Duerr follows seven artists from the Atelier23 of Lebenshilfe Gießen and offers an immediate look at creativity, everyday life, and personal expression.
Seven Artists, One Shared Studio
For several years, Olli Duerr observes the individuals in Atelier23 as they draw, paint, photograph, and build. The camera remains close to their focused working processes while also following the path to a joint exhibition. Without explanatory commentary, the film allows the portrayed to speak about their works, their experiences, and their view of the world.
A Film About Personality and Creative Power
Zeppelin Upper Right focuses not on limitations but on personality, artistic independence, and creative power. The result is a close and humorous portrait that expands familiar perspectives and makes the diversity of individual art production visible.
Documentary Film with Sustainable Audience Impact
With a runtime of 92 minutes, the event combines cultural education, societal participation, and an intense cinema experience. The calm observation, the special event atmosphere of the Small Hall, and the authentic insights into the studio create an event for film enthusiasts, cultural audiences, and anyone interested in inclusive art and human stories.
Event Planning and Admission
Admission to the Friedrichsforum and the hall begins at 6:00 PM. The film screening starts at 7:00 PM. The organizer is the Friedrichsforum Bayreuth. The screening is part of the in-house events in the cinema and documentary section.

Visitors can expect an authentic event experience with impressive imagery, personal perspectives, and an audience atmosphere that invites reflection on art, participation, and perception. Those who appreciate documentary films with human closeness and social relevance will experience a special cinema evening at the Friedrichsforum.
