With Needle, Thread, and Ideas for Your Own Toiletry Bag
On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the FabLab Bayreuth will transform into a creative sewing workshop. In the workshop Sewing Machine for Advanced Users, a small toiletry bag or a practical pencil case with a zipper and an additional interior pocket will be created.
Creative Event Experience at FabLab
From 6:00 PM to about 8:00 PM, focused work at the sewing machine will be in the spotlight. Choosing fabrics, preparing pattern pieces, inserting zippers, and sewing cleanly: The workshop combines craft precision with personal design. The manageable number of participants, a maximum of four people, creates a pleasant working atmosphere and allows for individual support.
Sewing Practically and Implementing Your Own Ideas
The course is aimed at people who have already gained some experience with the sewing machine. The focus is on a practical project with a visible result. A large selection of fabrics, sewing threads, zippers, scissors, tailor's chalk, measuring tapes, and irons are available on site.
Those who already have an introduction to the sewing machines of the FabLab can use the machines available there. All others are requested to bring their own functional sewing machine, including power cable, foot pedal, available presser feet, user manual, and preferably a new sewing machine needle size 90. Own cotton woven fabrics may also be brought along.
Event Management with Personal Support
The FabLab Bayreuth stands as an open high-tech workshop in Upper Franconia for low-threshold access to technology, design, and practical knowledge transfer. Event planning focuses on small groups, available materials, and a concrete workpiece. This creates a practical creative offering for adults, families, teenagers, and anyone looking to deepen their sewing skills.
Conclusion: A Self-Sewn Favorite Piece for Everyday Life
The workshop combines concentrated handwork, creative exchange, and pride in a self-made accessory. Those already familiar with the sewing machine and wishing to practice working with zippers will experience a compact evening with visible results at FabLab Bayreuth. Participation costs 39 Euros, and prior registration is required.
