Small tables, big excitement: Table tennis city championships in Bayreuth
On Saturday, November 14, 2026, the gymnasium of Jean-Paul Elementary School Bayreuth will transform into a special table tennis arena. In the 6th Open City Championships, women, men, youth, and children will compete against each other at the mini table.
Table tennis with an unusual format
Games will be played on mini table tennis tables measuring 90 x 45 centimeters. Mini paddles measuring 15 x 9.5 centimeters will also be used. The compact playing field alters the usual tactics and puts reaction ability, ball feel, and precision to a unique test.
For children, youth, and adults
The open tournament is aimed at several age groups. Children and youth experience competitive sports in a playful atmosphere, while adults test their technique and reaction speed under unfamiliar conditions. Each rally promises short distances, quick decisions, and intense court tension.
Sporting atmosphere in the gym
Audience noise, concentrated serves, and quick exchanges characterize the stadium atmosphere in small format. The mini table particularly requires an adapted formation at the table, precise positioning, and flexible tactics. Those who read the ball early and place it cleanly gain decisive advantages.
Conclusion: Experience table tennis live and up close
The 6th Open City Championships combine competition, skill, and fun for the whole family. Visitors can expect an unusual table tennis experience with exciting duels at the mini table. Anyone who wants to experience the special tension of the playing field live should mark the date in the gymnasium of Jean-Paul Elementary School Bayreuth.
