Christmas lights meet meditative star sounds
On the first day of Christmas, the St. Georgen Church in Bayreuth transforms into an atmospheric space for music, light, and reflective texts. The sound installation Shimmering Lights and Star Sounds by church musician Michael Lippert invites attendees to leave their daily lives behind and experience Christmas with all their senses.
Organ, piano, and words in a festive atmosphere
In the warm candlelight, sound improvisations from the organ and piano unfold. Biblical texts, star poems, and meditative reflections on Paul Gerhardt's Christmas song I stand here by your crib combine into a musical meditation. The orchestration remains deliberately open, creating space for echo, silence, and personal thoughts.
A concert experience between light and silence
The historic St. Georgen Church provides the resonant backdrop for an unusual Christmas experience. Gentle light moods, the church space, and the fine synchronization of spoken word and live music create a calm, almost ethereal audience atmosphere. Instead of a grand stage performance, the immediate experience of sound, space, and spirituality takes center stage.
Short reading with live music at 5 PM
A short reading with live music complements the sound installation at 5 PM. This creates a varied sequence of instrumental passages, text impulses, and meditative moments. The program appeals to music lovers, families, and anyone looking to consciously and atmospherically celebrate Christmas Day.
Conclusion: Christmas as a resonant moment
Shimmering Lights and Star Sounds connects church music, light art, and poetic texts into a unique concert experience in Bayreuth. Those who want to enrich the Christmas holiday with calm, sound, and festive atmosphere will experience an impressive moment of pause in the St. Georgen Church. Admission is free.
