On Your Mark – Technology – Go: Discover the Exciting World of STEM Subjects

During the autumn holidays, the campus of the University of Bayreuth will become a learning place for curious girls aged 10 to 14. In the holiday program On Your Mark – Technology – Go, participants will experience mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology not just from books, but in diverse hands-on workshops.

Research, Experiment, and Develop Your Own Ideas

How does slip turn into a cup? Why is glass transparent? What happens to plastic in nature? Why doesn’t a polar bear freeze? And how can you program your own video game? These questions lead directly into exciting practical workshops from various STEM fields at the University of Bayreuth.

The participants will experiment, observe, construct, and discover relationships on their own. This creates an age-appropriate learning experience that stimulates curiosity and shows how versatile scientific work can be.

Child-Friendly Science with Real Campus Feeling

The program combines learning fun with shared time and a special family experience: girls will experience university research up close and get to know different fields of study. Independent experimentation strengthens the development of problem-solving skills, creativity, and technical self-confidence.

The University of Bayreuth offers this program as part of MUT – Girls and Technology. The initiative provides girls aged 10 to 19 with practical experiences in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology. Limited workshop spots ensure a manageable learning atmosphere and focused work.

A Holiday Offer with Educational Added Value

The workshops are tailored to the age group of 10 to 14 years and focus on active learning. Rather than just listening, participants become researchers themselves: they ask questions, test hypotheses, and gain confidence in dealing with scientific topics.

This not only strengthens subject knowledge but also teamwork, independence, and the joy of discovery. Children's laughter, wonder, and curious conversations are as much a part of the family experience as concentrated tinkering.

Who is the Autumn Holiday Program Suitable For?

On Your Mark – Technology – Go is aimed at girls aged 10 to 14 who are interested in technology, natural sciences, computer science, or exciting everyday questions. No prior knowledge is required to participate in the practical workshops.

Conclusion: A Holiday Experience that Sparks Curiosity

On Your Mark – Technology – Go combines science, creativity, and community into a special holiday program for girls. Anyone who likes to try things out, ask questions, and discover new talents will experience an inspiring day full of learning fun and Aha moments at the University of Bayreuth.
